Nilgiri and Nandi Hills

Finally i had a solo trip. Green mountains and added to that nice weather.

21-Aug-2010
I started from Majestic bustand (Bangalore) to Mysore (as i don't have any booking for Ooty). Reached Mysore around 1:45 AM and it was raining heavily  and with no formal shelter in place (at that time). TNSTC bus arrived around 2:15AM & conductor told me  there is no seat in bus but he can arrange one if i can add some money on top of ticket. There was no bus available for next 2 hours and ended up booking a ticket with extra money. Conductor had some extra seats which i later found out.

First thing i did after reaching Ooty was to book return ticket back Bangalore. After which i went to see Botanical garden & you can walk uphill to see some 'Toda Hut'. Huts are beautifully build.

Next step was to go 'Wax Museum', Nice place little away from city on 'Conoor Road'. Good surrounding and place has some good statues. On the whole i say worth visiting.

Like we do in Himalays, i was looking for Mall Road where i can spend my evening but Udhagamandalam don't have one but charring cross area is not less than any Mall road.

Next day plan is to go for trek to 'Prasons Valley'.

22-Aug-2010

There is no bus before 9:30 to reach there (Parsons Valley) and my return booking is 5:30(Later than this no ticket was available). I decided to go for Doddabetta Peak trek. DoddaBetta Peak is 9Km from Bus stand and trek is beautiful with pine trees on both sides of the road. You have to start from  Charring Cross and follow sign boards on 'Kotigiri Road'.

Early morning made it more interesting as i saw only few vehicles on the way and reached there around 8:50 (in 1:45 hours). It has panoramic  view of the Nilgiri mountains. I decided to spend some time there and left for Ooty. One can go to Tea Muesium on the way. I reached Ooty around 12 and went to cover Rose Garden / Ooty Lake before leaving the place.

Rose garden happens out to be much below than expectations. At 2:30 it started raining heavily, i sat in tea-shop to have my daily dose of two vada along with tea. Tea at this place is made in different way which i liked very much due to which i was drinking lot of tea. Next stop was Ooty lake which again is nothing special if you do not like boating.

It is 4 o'clock already and i have 1:30 more hours to go, i went to Railway station and sat there to pass some time. Had my final tea and sat in bus for way back to Bangalore.

Nandi Hills (8-Aug-2010 )

I and Nitin finally got a bike (Fazor from Shashank). We left early morning at 4 AM with Dheeraj and his friend. It was tiring to ride as Nandi hills are 20 Km from Bangalore new Airport.

It has nice weather but due to fog we were not able to see much and came back . It was small trip but i won't advice anyone to go there until you are tired of heat which won't happen in Bangalore.
