Nilgiri and Nandi Hills

Nilgiri Hills (Ooty/Ootacamund/Udhagamandalam)
Finally i had a solo trip. Green mountains and added to that nice weather.
It started with me leaving from Majestic bustand (Bangalore) to Mysore (as i don't have any booking for Ooty). Reached Mysore around 1:45 AM and it was raining heavily there and place has no shelter for passengers. Took shelter in shopping complex just outside bus stand. TNSTC(Tamilnadu State Transport Corp) bus arrived around 2:15AM. conductor told me that there is no seat in bus but he can arrrange one if i can add some money on top of ticket. There was no bus to come in next 2 hours , so finally i booked ticket, Conductor had some extra seats which i later found out.
First thing i did after reaching Ootcamund was to book ticket back to bangalore. I had some information about Youth Hostel India (YHI) branch in Ooty. But decided to see Botanical garden first. Place is good/green. I went uphill to see some 'Toda Hut'. Huts are beautifully build.
I went on get a room. I reached YHI address and found out closed office. Some search here and there , finally found a accommodation. Next step was to go 'Wax Museum', Nice place little away from city on 'Conoor Road'. Good surrounding and place has some good statues. On the whole i will say worth visiting.

Like we do in Himalays, i was looking for Mall Road where i can spend my evening but Udhagamandalam doesn't has one but charring cross area in not less than any Mall road. Next day plan is to go for trek to 'Prasons Valley'.

There is no bus before 9:30 to reach there (Parsons Valley) and my back booking is 5:30(Later than this no ticket was available). Decided to go for Doddabetta Peak trek. It is me and backpack on way to DoddaBetta Peak (9Km from Bus stand). Trek is beautiful with pine trees on both side of road. To start trek you have to reach Charring Cross from where go to 'Kotigiri Road' and follow sign boards.

Early morning made it more intereting as i saw only frequent vehicles on the way. Around 8:50 (in 1:45 hours) i reached Peak. It has ponaromic view. Sat there for some time and started my way back. Visited Tea Muesium on the way. I reached Ooty around 12 and took my lunch. Now i am planing to go to Rose Garden and Lake before leaving the place.

Rose garden happens out to be much below than expectations (only for families).Around 2:30 it started raining heavily, i sat in resta and took my daily dose of two vada. Tea at this place is made in different way which i liked very much due to which i was drinking lot of tea. Next stop was Ooty lake which again is nothing special if you do not like boating.

It is 4 o'clock already and i have 1:30 more hours to go, i went to Railway station and sat there to pass some time. Had my final tea and sat in bus for way back to Bangalore ( I asked them what if i don't have ticket, Solution is similar to my journey in to Ooty, first go to Mysore and from there change).

Nandi Hills (8-Aug-2010 )

Me and Nitin finally got a bike (Fazor from Shashank). Planned to leave early moriong on 4 AM with Dheraj and his friend. Driving bike was tiring. Nandi hills is 20 Km from Bangalore new Airport.
Place has nice weather but due to fog we were not able to see much and came back . It was small trip but i won't advice anyone to go there until you are tired of heat which won't happen in Bangalore.
