Trip to Jodhpur,Jaisalmer and Jaipur

First of all thanks to Naveen for righting this wonderful blog which i have now copied.Original version can be found here.
Members: Aakash Bhadani, Naveen Goyal, Saksham Nagar, Sidharth Garg
All PGDM students of IMT, Ghaziabad
Duration of Trip: From 1600 HRS 23rd Jan TO 0730 HRS 28th Jan
Cost per person: Rs 3300

Day 0
We left IMT, Ghaziabad at 4 O'clock in the evening. We decided to have our evening snacks cum dinner at Chandni Chowk . We went to 'Babu Ram Paratha Wala' at famous Paratha Wali Gali. There we had eight paratha's of three different stuffing's(paneer, aalu, matar).Paratha's were bit costly, ranging from Rs 20 to Rs 35 per piece. Then we had Jalebi, Aalo Tikki and Dahi Bhala at different shops in Chandni Chowk. I purchased one book for my brother from Nai Sadak and couriered it to home. After that we took rickshaw for Old Delhi Railway Station. From there we board 'Mandor Express' for Jodhpur at 2045 HRS. Train left at right time. In train we played 'Kot Pees', and I was declared undisputed looser. We slept at around midnight.

Day 1 (Jodhpur-24 Jan 2009)
We reach ‘Jodhpur’ early morning around 8 AM. Mind you jodhpur station was really beautiful nad we took some photos over there. From Station after some negotiation with rickshaw wala we decided to go for Mehrangarh Fort.
We thought we will have breakfast in or near fort but there was no place to eat in the vicinity of Fort. Though there is one costly restaurant inside fort, we choose to skip breakfast. From fort we can have a clear view of the whole city "The Blue City" . We also visited Jaswant Thada, adjacent to fort. There is a small lake and some structure. We preferred to sit beside lake. I was throwing stones in the lake.

Then we went to the market near Clock Tower. We had kachori and shri khand at Mishrilal Misthan Bhandar. Also we took some chips while leaving. We must say that was a good local place to eat. Mishrilal Misthan Bhandar is more than 50 years old. After filling our stomach, we left for Umaid Bhavan Palace.
This is a very big palace which has three sections. One section is a 5 star hotel operated by Taj Group. King lives in another section. One section is open to visitors, that has some vintage cars, model of fort and some history of the king's family. Overall experience was ok kind off. Not a worth place to visit unless you are guest of king or Taj hotel. From palace, we took an auto for Mandore Park for Rs80. After stepping down from auto we had lemon soda and some peanuts. This was the most boring place in our trip. Park is too old and not maintained properly. After just half an hour we came out of it and were thinking of going somewhere else. We decided to go to Kailana Lake by Bus No.7, which will leave us to pratap nagar. The bus journey was really fantastic. It was approx 1 hour long journey and we saw almost whole of the city sitting in the bus. We enjoyed boating at Kailana Lake.

We left for Bombay Motor house to book bus tickets for Jaisalmer. It costs us Rs240 each for sleeper bus. Nearby, we had dinner at hotel krishna. Then left for Cafe Coffee Day to pass time as bus was to begin journey after one and a half hour. We ordered coffee one by one at CCD and i was the first one to start. Aakash didn't took coffee. At 1030pm our bus started. We slept in our sleeper seats. Good night!

Day 2 (Jaisalmer-Khuri-25 Jan 2009)It was early morning when we reached Jaisalmer. At bus stand we had a very good "hot malaiwala milk" and then we moved into a lodge to get fresh. Lodge cost us Rs 200 for three hours. In jaisalmer, we visited Fort (we didn't liked it), Patwon-Ji-Ki-Haveli (Much much better than fort) and Godsisar Lake (nice place to visit in morning or evening). Aakash forgot his bag at some place in Godsisar Lake, but thank god we were able to find that. Then at noon we were headed for the best part of our trip, Khuri village, located at a distance of 42 kilometers from the main Jaisalmer City. A bus from jaisalmer took about one and a half hour to reach khuri. During bus journey we came across hundreds of wind mills. We had a booking at BADAL GUEST HOUSE, operated by Badal Singh (a very nice person). If you ever plan to visit this place then you must stay at Badal guest house, and i am sure you will definitely thank me.
Four friends, Four camels and Four camel owners went far inside the desert, where one finds nothing but yellow yellow sand and blue blue sky. The last village we find on our way was "Neem Ki Dhani", where kids were playing and their eyes were saying it all... visit and feel...We played with goats, Saksham and I jumped in sand, Aakash too tried that but lost his spectacles and Naveen just lay down dreaming .Camel owners were busy preparing dinner for us, at a place in the middle of nowhere.

Never saw so many stars in the sky before. The place where we slept was in between sand dunes, no tents only bedding. It was a cold night. I was having some horror dreams.

That night made our trip a memorable one for the whole of our lives.

Day 3 (Khuri-Jaisalmer-26 jan 2009)
Happy Republic Day

Ratan Singh and friends prepared breakfast for us, after having it we left that place with lot of memories.
One day at khuri cost us Rs 500 each that included all meals and three hours camel ride, fees of camel owners, mineral water, all bedding and a memorable experience. While going back to Jaisalmer, we sat on the roof of the bus along with three foreigners. We greeted everyone we came across on our way by saying "Ram Ram". It was a wonderful ride. After coming to station at Jaisalmer we was having some spare hours so I and Naveen went out to buy some ‘namkeen’ and mithai. We then took a train to Jaipur.

Day 4 (Jaipur-27 Jan 2009)
Early morning we reached to Jaipur railway station.

A car was there to receive( Naveen Courtesy), which took us to his uncle's house. We slept for two hours and then took a nice shower after many days. Aunt served us very tasty breakfast and then taxi took us to Jaipur tour.
We went to Amber Fort, City Palace, Birla Planetarium. We left for Choki Dhani in the evening which was a great disappointment for all of us. We didn't liked the food at Choki Dhani and the place didn't met our expectations. At 11:30 PM we took a bus for Delhi. Reached IMT at 7:30 AM.

Thanks for reading my blog . Feel free to write for any esquires.
